My Kaplan test was all online and was proctored by a professor. For the math section, you are given a calculator and scratch piece of paper. My exam was set up this way and it is important to talk with your testing center to see if things differ or there are any additional rules needed to be followed during your exam. The reason I recommend taking the online ACT and SAT practice tests for reading is that it gets you comfortable with analyzing long passages on a computer as well as allows you to understand the mistakes you made and why you made them a little more informatively.
Kaplan Admissions Test
Another tip I would recommend is using a scratch piece of paper to write down the main concept of the passage that way when you are hung up on a question you can always differ back to the topic and make an informed guess if you get stuck. For this section what I found works best for me was doing the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam Practice Math questions all first, then reviewing the answers to see which ones I missed. The ones I missed I would find youtube videos through Khan Academy to help explain how to solve the equations correctly. I find this is more helpful than trying to read why you got the answer wrong and helps with retention for your test later on. The one on your phone is an accurate representation of the calculator used on the test. And the answer choices are A. On the exam, you were given passages that were all nearly a page in length.
Admission Test Requirement
The passages were very choppy and hard to read as is, and then on top of that, you are to find the mistakes, analyze nouns, verbs, pronouns, conjunctions ect. It was the hardest portion for me because as I was reading the passages, I thought every sentence needed to be rewritten… not just the ones that they were asking to rewrite. I have watched a lot of youtube videos stating that you need to take anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 as well as microbiology in order to understand the science portion.
Top Exams 2021
Now although those classes may help, they are absolutely not necessary for taking the exam. In fact, I had only taken Anatomy and Physiology 1 and still needed to go back and refresh for this exam because I had forgotten about some of the things that they were asking for. Some of the things I did take away from the booklet were Osmosis and Diffusion, as well as the 3 main compartments of fluid, but other than that the test was mainly Anatomy and Physiology and consisted of many different components.

The best study tip I could give is utilizing the quizlet study cards that were recommended to me here , they go over some of the things that I was able to study to help me get a good score on the science portion. I had less than a month to study and was studying for at least 30 minutes to an hour a day just to practice and feel comfortable with the material. One of the things that I will say that helped me a ton is having my husband quiz me in the science portion. It helped motivate me to be better so I could teach him about what I was learning as well as pass the test. The test itself was not as time constraining as I thought it would be, I think practicing at home with a timer and study techniques that make you learn more efficiently is the best way to prepare for this exam. I really enjoyed the way the test was set up and am happy that I was able to pass.

KAT Admission Exam
I was in school as well and worked , so I would have to set time aside to study for this exam. The more questions you do, the better you will get. Do not get discouraged if you get many wrong as you are studying because I found that the test was a lot easier than the questions from the Kaplan practice guide. The test is broken down into 4 sections with certain topics that you need to know. Personally, the Kaplan book for me was completely useless for the Math portion. There was NO metric conversions on the test so don't worry about that. I did chapters , they are really small chapters and perfect practice for this test. You can also use it as help for your dosage calculations class we eventually must take. Khan Academy and YouTube helped tremendously also in breaking each subject down.

Reading: Determining logic of a passage, Comprehending details, Drawing basic inferences, Identifying the purpose of a passage 22 Questions in 45 min I absolutely hate reading comprehension and I was surprised on how well I did. You must do as many practice problems as possible and really analyze why are you getting the question wrong.
Nursing Entrance Exams: What You Can Expect
READ the question and ask yourself what are they asking for? I would read the question first and then go to the paragraph and look for answer. The Kaplan guide was okay for the Reading portion, but any other study guide that has reading comprehension will do fine. I almost ran out of time on this section and guessed quickly on the last 2 questions please never leave any unanswered. These questions on the test were not fair in my opinion and some I felt were nursing based. Take each system and write out what are the key functions of each. Kaplan book again was useless in my opinion. Writing: Assessing passage development, Assessing paragraph logic, Assessing mechanics of writing 21 Questions in 45min Again another frustrating section for me and the Kaplan book DOES NOT have any practice questions on writing which sucks so I had to figure it out on my own. This section is hard to study for, but as I was doing the test I would ask myself does that make sense?
Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam
I think I got lucky on this section. Questions on the test also asked to place sentences in the paragraph which was confusing, I am going to place a link to a site that has a few practice questions that helped me with that. I used a binder to keep my study materials together, whatever works for you. Take small breaks as you study and create a study schedule to help with time management. Remember practice, practice, practice and you will be fine. Do not give up, if becoming nurse is your dream you will do it!
